IN GOD WE TRUST

I must admit that there are humanitarian crisis in Nigeria which needs urgent attention like the ones in Sudan and Zimbabwe. America has the secrets to progress and development. The founding fathers of U.S.A. knew that only God is capable of leading a nation with man as a figurehead hence, they have hurriedly included God in the scheme of everything. The American motto is thus; "IN GOD WE TRUST".A nation which put her trust in God and works in God's ways must be and should be the most powerful nation on earth.

Nigerian ex-President chief Olusegun Obasanjo was recently quoted to have said to Nigerians to leave their electricity problem to God (Obasanjo: Leave Electricity Problem to God. He was said to have advised Nigerians to take to God anything they do not have which they wish to have or cannot get.

He was also asked about how he feels when Nigerians don’t appreciate his contributions to the development of the nation, but he instead dodged all questions before being driven away. In his infinite wisdom, the chief did not feel he owed any explanations to Nigerians about the eight years of his administration, which are now subject to several probes and investigations over alleged corruption, nepotism, mismanagement, high-handedness and inefficiency.

For the ex-president to sit back and tell us to leave everything to God is not only an insult, but a blasphemy and sin against God Himself. God chose to use him to bring succor to his people, but somewhere along the line, he deviated. In fact, God actually gave him several chances to redeem himself, which is very scarce in world history, but we now know what happened, because despite promises at his inauguration in 1999, few of those were implemented or successful. Who is to blame for this? The blame rests squarely on Obasanjo, but he’s not taking responsibility for that, but rather pushing the responsibility to the Maker. This is an abject abdication of responsibility, and people who abdicate responsibilities never make good leaders.

Apparently, Chief Obasanjo got what he wanted from God and indeed from Nigerians, but after being fulfilled, what did he give back to God and Nigeria? What were his legacies to the common man with the many sufferings they had to go through during his eight-year tenure? And even now, Obasanjo has forgotten how millions of Nigerians took to the streets with joy and hope when he assumed power in 1999, thinking that at last, they had a man that would do his utmost best for us, because God was going to use him.

It is a shame really that a man entrusted with making life better for Nigerians should now be advising us to leave everything to God after his eight years of misrule.

On the back of the $16 million allegedly spent (or misspent) by his administration on electricity alone, and which as we know, has not produced any visible improvement to our energy and electricity generation, distribution and usage, should he now be saying things like this? This is really very rich coming from him.

Yes, there can never be a quick-fix to our problems but some patriotic citizens must come together and make sacrifices so that future generations will benefit. I submit that we are in a position to actually initiate a lasting change in our society.

IN GOD WE TRUST
"we are in a position to actually initiate a lasting change in our society. " What a good saying.

I agree with you but we the youth have a long way to go if we can unite and tell our leaders enough is enough.

They are busy making ways for thier children who have never been to their villages and dont evend fill the pain of economic hard ship.
Yes sour leaders owe us a lot.

I asked why we cannot achieve the MDGs?

A leader will come with beuatifull manifesto, a goal to help create a change when given the chance tells you MDGs will not be achievable because he must go with his own share of the national cake.

My dear its time we mind. In God we trust but we the Nigerians must all come together better life of our people. Not just saying it and doing it the other way.

Thank You for your concern

While I agree with you Inalegwu Frank, the only people who can make any meaningful changes in a country are the people. And changes come when people begin to have meaningful discussions and finding ways things can be done better without pushing some hidden agenda. And I must say that the people of Nigeria have in the past stood for the right things and even the politician and the Military had no option but to listen to what we wanted. It was not the US or any other country of the world that helped us, we stood and things changed. A case in time is that of Babangida, he had no option but to ‘step aside…’ And the same thing is seen in many parts of Africa and the world at large… We must ask or lawmaker’s questions, we must ask our Ministers questions and let them know and understand that we will not be pushing around anymore.

I say this categorically that our leaders most create parts of progress in Nigeria for Nigeria to rise up and take her place in the global standard, else we will remain were we are until kingdom-come. I believe Nigeria will be great again if our leaders turnaround and embrace positive steps.

My opinion:

Re: IN GOD WE TRUST
I appreciate your comments Mr.Ojeremen, and I personally do not hate the Nigerian ex-president for who he his. But I believe he set us back a lot with his do or die politics. He took us 5 steps forward and 12 steps backward. He set foundation for achievements but with greed and ego destroy the foundation he already laid, throwing away the pebbles he met on the land. He cuts from the bottom of a bed spread and attached it to the top in bid to make the bed spread bigger. Some of our past leaders institutionalized corruption; ex-President Obasanjo politicalized it. With Obasanjo in power Nigeria political system now become another Niger delta, with politicians kidnapping our fund from right, left and center. Out of People Democratic Party PDP, Obasanjo founded looters club making himself the chief whip. To loot Nigeria you must belong or else EFCC will sweep you into ocean.

Sometimes, i find it difficult to comment openly on certain issues borthering our Nation. . .it's like washing our dirty linen in public. But, I really do pray that 'she' grows up and stop been a baby that is dially nourished with milk and not meat!

Nigeria. . .we hail thee!!

Nigeria can make it!
Dear Olowoyeye, the reason why the politicians behave unholy to their national service is because many of them were not voted in by the mandate of the people. They were rigged in that is why they live and have to run off the road before the others could catch them. I think seriously, our problem starts from the election period when the right people will not come out to show their interest in participating in the development or election processes. And in some cases, when the right people with vision are voted in, they are often surrounded by rogues and hang-ons who think of only their stomach....

Don't worry if things do not change, some time in future, I see Nigeria become like Argentina when one day everyone will stand up not in violence but peacefully, when we will all say enough and the people who does not have the virtue to lead us will be thrown out of office and disgraced and the right people with positive ideas of the direction to move the Nation further will come -up... Don't worry we are getting there and there is no stopping us then....

I strongly Believe
You'e right man, virtually 99.9% of our elections are rigged, hence our systems built on falsehood! But, I just know that one day, the river would overflow. . . . and the corrupt systems shall be purged! It's just a matter of time you know and we are eagerly waiting for that spontaneous transformational change!

Oftentimes, I get disappointed when i listen to news/skim through pages of the newspapers and see a nation suffering in the midst of plenty. It's a shame.

But one thing is certain. . .and I so much believe in it, that it's just a matter of time. . . there shall be a NEW Nigeria! A revolutionized & transformed nation indeed! So help us God!

EMPLOYMENT POLICY AND PAINS IN NIGERIA.
The money bags, the politicians I mean the rich have taken over every part of Nigeria, as people who have graduated have no job to do, except music for now to make Nigerians laugh.

If you as an individual struggle so hard without anybody effort to become a graduate and then the government still very reluctant to offer any help, then what respect would you have for such a father or government.

The banks want to know your background and your status before given you employment because they want to grow their bank. The rich only thinks about their families before any other groups, this is the injustice within the Nigeria polity. Nowadays, it baffle me and my colleagues, that it is not how good you are but what position your families hold in the country.

Most of my friend who abjectly knows nothing during our studies in school have the best job in Abuja, Lagos, Nigeria. The way the past president emphasized on the best to be taken, especially the first class, as if those other with lower grade are not better for the position, but that was not what that was happening.

Most of the parastatals formed by the government never had to employ masses, but to employ their board of director list, families, friends, while majority of Nigeria suffers continuously from the villages, towns, cities.

Presently in Abuja, several parastatal are busy employing people SECREATLY, please think of those who never had these opportunity you are exploiting, any parastatal that denied should come out with their 6months salary payment to staff.

The situation in Kenya, is a piece of the ice berg, because the Kenyan had waited enough before they stuck, and to make it look like ethnic cleansing, but Nigeria has waited enough, the area boys are only waiting for the situation to come up so that they can leave there bus stops and storm the rich residence to obtain what belongs to them, they only need the support of the middle class to make their dream come into reality.

Nigeria situation will be extremely worse.

You will be amazed at the presidency and the governors, ministers, directors spends by showing their extravagancy, lavishness of resources that is very scarce on children marriages, birthday, burials, when they are in office, at the expense of the governed.

The day Monkey will go to the market and never to return is fast approaching.

Our leaders have failed us.

(LOL. . .your last statement is hilarious. . .)

Actually, the present situation of things is pretty bad and saddening! People are suffering, reaaaaaaallly suffering!!! So many people are suffering in silence. Sometimes, I weep in my heart when i behold these things and see a whole lot of individuals battered, homeless, helpless, jobless, foodless.

Oh no!. it's pretty bad . . our leaders have failed us extensively! I pray we'll have a place in our hearts to forgive them as youths!!!!

Why my people cry?

The effort an average Nigerian puts to provide basic life needs for his/her family when put in other countries, will placed him/her above the average margin. This is because unlike Nigeria, other countries have systems that support rather than mitigate citizen welfare. The only thing that exists and functions in Nigeria is the executive forum where decisions and actions that sustains the dysfunction of Nigeria are taken.

I have come to the conclusion that an average Nigerian who has swam in and partnered with poverty longer than 15 years at a stretch needs a psychiatric examination. From experience, when the workload of the brain or brain activities has been stretched over the limit, we begin to notice some symptoms of depression and progressive psychosis in our lives. I write with the views of advising Nigerians not to preoccupy their brain or mind with political issues that will not benefit the people of Nigeria, but to deliberate on issues that will benefit us all, if we are battle ready to defend what we believe in; in a place where the impact could be felt by 70 to 80% of the population.

Above all, I believe once those corrupt leaders in the government who has been robbing us our privileges and obstructing the wheels of progress in this country are locked up in prison ,only then can Nigeria progressed spiritually, economically and politically with a supersonic speed.
